Days 62 & 63 - Santander Spain - The lard asses rest !

With little to do breakfast is fast becoming a daily highlight when two hungry and not so chivalrous Aussies go head to head with a collection of unfriendly European 4 star toffs - no contest !

With a collection of cakes, pastries and even bars of chocolate the two finely tuned physical specimens that arrived in Santander (...OK then 1&1/2 ...) are fast resembling lumps with the current state of physical exercise (none !)

I've at least been taking advantage of the magnificent weather to walk the 1 km long Sandiero beach in the morning with thousands of others and then plunge into the coolish but lovely water for a few laps of my own body circumference !

While I'm busy Henley is working hard on becoming an arts afecionado by becoming a literary critic while reading his book then a media one while glued to the TV watching the Tour de France in a choice of either Spanish or German !

There's no problem with this other than when the golf comes on after the cycling and at midnight Henley has still yet to move !

Back on the beach the Spanish appear sun worshippers (hasnt anyone here heard of skin cancer) with few in the water and most either soaking up the sun or playing a Spanish version of tennis on the beach.

The r&r has been used well giving me time to throw in a few more hills on our UK route meaning hamstrings and archilles tendons are in danger after a week off !

Many thanks on behalf of Kev & self for the messages of support received after our arrival in Santander - wed both forgotten how tough the ride was until reading some of our earlier notes !

Onwards to the UK and in the interim maybe a hire car will give us a chance to see some of the stunning scenery in Spain and the nearby Picos Mtns.
