Kevs wounds were on the heal but his mystery illness was forcing him to limit his food intake while maximizing his sleep !
In hopefully some form of omen we docked at Plymouth in the sun disembarking around 5.00p.m. just in time for peak hour in this historic city.
With my online map malfunctioning it was down to a paper one to help guide us out of the mayhem called Plymouth. Thankfully we had the help of a local cyclist who just happened to be heading to the same exit point that we were at Colebrook.
With traffic madness all around us we were able to follow this guys local shortcuts that soon had us on the fringe of Dartmoor ascending a couple of small 15per centers that soon helped Henley determine he was still not up for it !
Thankfully our ride to our Hotel was a short one although considerably prolonged by Kev having to regularly stop and on occasion redecorate local hedges which prompted a passing motorist at one point to shout out that he didn't think my mate was too well !
We finally made it to our beautifully located Hotel on the fringe of Dartmoor with expansive views back to the coast.
Of most excitement was the fact that the hotel comes with an English speaking TV and tea and coffee facilities for the first time in two months.
Kev made a partial appearance for dinner to take on some ice cream. I have already told him that if he's not up to it tomorrow we will have to call a halt while he gets tested as in his current state he is a danger to himself !
The good weather spell continues and the Ashes might yet provide a good contest after the efforts of Agar & Hughes - we can pull that Aussie flag back out !
Pleased to read that you have made it to the 'old Dart' and hopefully, Kev is getting back to good health and giving the Poms heaps!
ReplyDeleteThe weather in the UK is looking good, that should help to enjoy the journey.
Beautiful in Melbourne. Today mid teens, clear sky and no breeze - making Beach Rd a joy to ride.
