Day 44 - Lecture France - Rest Day ! Aussies Pike it !

With threatened heavy rain forecast and 7 consecutive days on the bike under our belts we decided to call it a rest day in Lecture planning to do as little as possible !

Our first aim to secure our hotel for a 2nd night was unsuccessful finding out within 15 mins of calling La Bastards breakfast crap that the hotel was full - a co-incidence ?

Our next accommodation was in a b&b only 100 meters away down a laneway & run by a delightful woman who provided us with two separate rooms (double beds) allowing my singed nasal hairs to recover !

With a the rain easing we wandered down the main street of the town a Gallic stronghold 1,000 years back being high on a plateau !

An obligatory viewing of the towns church done (they are all amazing !) we stopped off at a local bar to watch a replay of the Brumbies v British Lions game with Henley (master of decorum) about to enter the bar with a can of zero brought next door !

We both parted ways over the course of the day exploring the town while i also took the opportunity to get a hair cut to look remotely human once more !

If there was a plus to the day it was the fact that Henley (who never reads) ended up spending most of the afternoon in silence reading a booked i`d given him - amazing !

With late afternoon heavy rain easing we wandered back into town for dinner where H walking head down ( to watch out for the slippery tiles and cracks as he has told me on many occasions) walked straight into an eye level shop umbrella narrowly avoiding permanent eye damage ! Henley is now working on how to keep one eye low and the other high !

It was another lovely dinner at our favorite cafe the Red Robin a delightful 12 seater comprising bric a brac where everything in the cafe including the chairs you sit on and plates and cutlery is for sale - sort of like dining in a junk shop !

An early night for me and a latish one for H engrossed in his book !

Hopefully much nice weather in the morning for our next cycle leg !
