Spent the morning in a mild panic doing last minute things including targetting the shops for a cheapie bag for H to help meet the stringent requirements of the budget airlines over here.
H's hardest task though was trying to change to change the Scottish funny money we had into English currency to avoid any exchange problems we might have. After 3 banks H took to the Post Office joining a queue out into the street before he was finally served and relieved of his money.
A farewell lunch at the new Witherspoon's hotel in town gave us a good chance to say goodbye to my UK family and thank them before heading off with what appeared to be enough time to Bristol Airport some 60 + miles away.
All went well until with self in doze mode H missed the airport tiurnoff requiring us to go another 10 miles before we could get off the motorway and take an alternate route.
Not necessarily a problem except for one detail our planned exit (the one we missed) had known fuel servos on it which we needed to access to fill our car before returning.
Our alternate route took us through small villages slowing us down while my GPS was less than helpful failing to indictate where the airport actually was !
We eventually got to the airport but then had to travel away from ion a different route as with no sevos at the airport we had to locate one elsewhere.
With time running short we finally located one, did an about turn and raced back to the airport depositing our hire car in an area about 500 meters away from the terminal again not a problem except we had no trolley and two bags each and two bike boxes each to carry
I was able to somehow carry all mine but H had to do 2 trips ls meaning that we were cutting it fine with Budget airlines notorious for not accepting late passengers.
Mercifully the queues were short meaning the check in process was painless and no sooner had we cleared security and passport control and H doing his mandatory toilet stop were we on board and flying to Paris with H after all the excitement falling asleep straight away !
Arrival Charles de Gaul airport saw us deposit our bike boxes for the exorbitant fee of $35 dollars for 24 hours.
We and made our way to our hotel by shuttle bus to our hotel about 20 mins mins away near Rossy.
The evening was spent stocking up on buffet food and looking at our packing.
H obviously a bit tired spent considerable time searching his luggage for his camera found it then put it to one side and kept searching.
After another 5 mins of searching I asked him what he was doing when he indicated that he was searching for his camera I said he had found it before. H"s only nswer was "I'm a bit fragged"!
On our final night, H suggested a good night kiss but my vow of celibacy to Monika stood firm ! Watch out Jonesy !
