Day 93 - Dunfermline Scotland !

It was time to pack up change over hire cars and head Sth leaving Inverness who's main claim to fame appears to a mythical sea going dragon, numerous 1 pound shops (our. $2 shop equivalent) and where the finest looking building in town is a 2 storey funeral parlor built in the 1870"s !!!

The A 9 South is a lovely road with glimpses of beautiful highland scenery but also with a tragic undertone. Mixed sections of dual carriageway with single lane roads and cross over points have given the A9 the dubious reputation of being one of the most dangerous roads in the UK ( a la the Hume prior to duplication).

To provide an example at one point we were behind a slow moving semi that caused a significant tailing of cars despite numerous signs suggesting that such vehicles pull over at intervals in laybys !
As a result cars were forced to take chances with limited forward visibility and plenty of high speed traffic coming the other way !

We made it safely to Pitlochry "JUST"as H 's urgency issue required an immediate resolution as soon we entered the towns car park !

After a refreshing cuppa and another near escape for Kev we drove uneventfully the remaining 2 + hours to Dunfermline just a wee caber throw from Edinburgh !

Our aim was to catch up with Monika's brother Chris who in moving from Devon post navy years has successfully replaced his "Oooh Aahrss" with "Och Ayes" to now be a confirmed local jock !

We had a couple pints then tried to follow him out to an eating place for dinner. I say follow as we lost him in the first 2 minutes spending the next 30 going around in circles trying to find him or anything else we could recognise in Dunfermline !

With H having a fully charged phone with no Sim card despite my numerous reminding i was forced to empty the bank of england into various phone boxes as we played a game of hide and seek across Dunfermline !

Chris finally located us and given the lateness of the day helped us now to try and find some accommodation for the night easier said than done given Edinburgh's festival and famous military tattoo ! After no initial luck we were helped by a girl at the Travelodge who kindly did a ring a round finding a hotel with a recent cancelation. With Chris' help we located the hotel and then "FINALLY" went out for some dinner !

An enjoyable night , some time to catch up and reflect and still a big journey southwards to be had !

P.s.

H is recovering well after delicately extracting his mobile phone which in a momentary loss of control i buried up his rear end !
